The Firefly and the Watermelon

The firefly shows off his light
   in darkness while engaged in flight.
And to an engineer's chagrin
   he never has to plug it in.

The watermelon so good to eat,
   to one and all a special treat--
I wonder how it got so sweet,
   in dirt t'accomplish such a feat.

The firefly did not attend
   a class in electricity.
The watermelon from end to end
   had never studied chemistry.

'Tis God who gave the firefly light
   to dazzle children in the night.
God designed the watermelon sweet
   to grow so big from seed so small
And young and old enjoy this treat
Though they will never know it all!
